Recap: XFS 57

Last night was the "BIG" night, in more ways than one:

It started off normal enough, with a nice demonstration from an Idaho youth wrestling team, that is preparing for nationals. They gave a quick exhibition that was great (these kids show some promise!). The night ended with a Super Heavyweight clash that literally moved the cage by over a foot (they hit the sides with so much momentum that it slid on the floor!).

As I looked at the card, I immediately noticed it had dwindled to 7 fights, with a couple fights scratched that I had been looking forward to seeing (sitting cageside I was told that Marla Skogsberg's opponent had weighed in around 30 pounds heavy). That being said, it looked as though there were still to be some excellent matchups... and there were! Despite a controversial stoppage & a questionable decision, the fighters put on a great show. The night had a couple MMA debuts, as well as the successful return of Chuck Jordan after a terrible injury in his last fight at Qwest Arena. All in all, it was an action packed evening. And with that, here are the results:

Justin Doyle over Danny Blackman via referee stoppage in round 2

Welterweight:
Jeff White over Tim Mayo via submission in round 2

Jr. Bantamweight:

“This should be the event of the century.” says Knockout Promotions President Kasey Thompson. “This will be the first MMA event in Idaho history with 3 Super Heavyweight Fights.”

Andrew Chew will put his undefeated Professional MMA record on the line against Chuck “The Grim Reaper” Jordan.

There will be a total of (4) CHAMPIONSHIP belts on the line, in a night of action-packed, full-contact, Professional cage fighting action!

Better late than never, right? Well, given that I was out of the country, and Ben covered the fights, I feel I am a bit behind. XFS 56 Organized Chaos Recap

I think this image captures the essence of every MMA victory. This one happened to be a bit more sweet simply due to the fact that 1) Josh Wick is only 16 years old, 2) his opponent Dominic Pierson was a solid opponent, and 3) it was for the Jr. BANTAM-WEIGHT title!

It was one of many hard-fought match-ups that entertained over 4000 people in attendance. There were a total of 7 MMA fights and one last-minute kickboxing fight. Here are the results for the night of MMA action!
